Xbox Games Now Downloadable on Xbox 360 Marketplace

Timed to correspond with the five-year anniversary of Xbox Live, Microsoft has announced it will begin adding original Xbox titles to the Xbox 360's Live Marketplace for users to download to their hard drive.

Xbox Live first burst onto the scene in 2002, a year or so after the release of the original Xbox console. Since then it has gained around eight million users, completely dwarfing any other non-PC online gaming service.

On December 4, Microsoft will release a firmware update for the Xbox 360, which will include in part the ability to download specially chosen Xbox games from the Xbox Live Marketplace. Confirmed titles include Crimson Skies, Fable, Psychonauts, and of course Halo. The games will be priced at 1,200 Microsoft points ($15).

"On its fifth birthday, Xbox Live truly is the place for hanging out with friends and enjoying downloadable TV shows, movies, videos, game add-ons and now downloadable Xbox games on demand," said the Microsoft VP in charge of Xbox Live John Schappert.

It edges up the competition over digital downloads between Microsoft and Sony. Sony's Playstation 3 online store has been noted for its inclusion of full-length, high-capacity games including the PS3 game Warhawk. Xbox Live previously had been relegated to cheap, small casual game titles.

Microsoft will also be celebrating the five-year anniversary by awarding 500 Microsoft Points to anyone whose current Xbox Live account dates back to 2002. Additionally, beginning tomorrow, all users in the US will be able to download Carcasonne, an Xbox Live Arcade title, for free.

Medal of Honor Airborne review.

The Medal of Honor series is now into its eight year with the 11th title, Medal of Honor: Airborne released on Xbox 360. The franchise has attracted a huge fan base over the years due to its cinematic qualities and the chance its given gamers to get to grips with some authentic war time weapons, but earlier this year following the release of the, quite frankly, awful Medal of Honor: Vanguard, I really did think the series was looking old and ragged and secretly hoped that I'd never see the franchise re-emerge from its sorry looking state. But, while I was getting all in a fluster over EA's lack of innovation in their World War II shooter, it appears the team must have been busy putting all of their efforts into the next-gen version of the franchise…

Medal of Honor: Airborne doesn't reinvent the first person shooter genre, like they'd like us to believe, but it does look and feel so much fresher than the last game in the series. Thankfully, many of the frustrations have been ironed out, leaving the series totally reinvigorated and standing proudly shoulder to shoulder next to other top next-gen shooters.

It's always a good sign when you have the motivation to complete the game that you're reviewing. I never did finish playing Medal of Honor Vanguard - it was just too frustrating . I only played to a point where I thought I knew enough to review it. But, while playing MOH: Airborne, I barely glanced at the clock and kept battling through to the end. I’m delighted to say that the series has been injected with a much needed dose of pace.

In fact, so much so that, just when I realized how much fun I was having playing the game, it was abruptly over after merely 5 hours of gameplay. The time it takes to complete MOH: Airborne is undoubtedly an issue especially when you're paying top whack for a videogame, but though I've mentioned it, I really don't want it to put you off the experience of playing the most enjoyable World War II shooter I've played for some time.

If you have your original Xbox games and you want to play them on your Xbox 360, first you need to make sure that the game you want to play is supported .
It should be one of these games.
All you need to do is to get an update for your xbox 360 console using any of these methods:

1 - Xbox Live update:

This is the best and most efficient way to get it, first sign in to Xbox Live with silver or gold membership, and if you don't have one it will be better if you can create it, using even a free silver profile would be better than using any of the next two options to download the update.
After you are signed in with your profile put an original Xbox game in the disc tray, and close it.
This will start the backward compatibility program , If there is any update needed , it will start.
NOTE After you start this process, you must complete it, because if you failed to complete the installation process, your Xbox 360 won't be able to play any original Xbox games until you finish the installation.

2 - Download the update on the pc and copy it on a disc:

You will need to download the backward compatibility update file from xbox.com on your computer.
1- To download it go to this link.
2- Then copy this update you downloaded on a CD or DVD.
3- After the CD or DVD is ejected from the computer disc tray, Put it in the Xbox 360 console and the update will run automatically then select Continue to complete the update.
4- Wait until the update is completed, the system will have the operating system software updated.
Then select Yes, update now. Then press the A button on the controller, the console will restart and you will be able to play your original Xbox games on the Xbox 360.

3- Order a disc from xbox.com
You can order the backward compatibility disc directly from Xbox.com website through this link and you will recieve it withen 2 or 3 weeks.
When you receive the disc put it on the console.
Then the update program will start automatically, then select Continue to apply the update.
Wait until the update is completed.
